Charging the Congress with communalising politics to stay in the 2014 general election race, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley asked non-Congress parties to remain focused on issues of “governance which the UPA will try to duck.”
Political observers, Mr. Jaitley said, were at a loss to understand how Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed could have said that the 2002 Gujarat riots led to the formation of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen when the government had designated it as a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The senior BJP leader said since charisma of the Congress appeared to be “inadequate,” the ruling party had resorted to communalising politics.
