Gold jewels and a laptop were among the valuables stolen from the house of a retired Sub-Inspector of Police, T. Sethumangala Raman, in K.K. Nagar.
Police said that the family members were out of station on Tuesday. On their return on Wednesday, they found that the house on Kamarajar Street was burgled. The thieves had broken open the door and took away valuables worth Rs. 91,000. The Anna Nagar police are investigating.
