Finally, gold chain is out

The gold chain which a woman had swallowed after snatching it from an aged relative was finally flushed out of her stomach on Friday evening, 11 days after the incident happened. The police had been treating the accused, R.Malliga, with fruits, especially banana and papaya, to enable the gold in the stomach come out with the stools. The accused woman, along with her husband V.Ravi (51), had robbed Chellammal (70), who was bed-ridden, at Tirupparankundram in the early hours of July 9. However, when the couple were rounded up by neighbours after the victim raised an alarm, Malliga swallowed the chain. She is in custody now.
